Illuminating Your Career Path Internship Program - Las Vegas - Gaming Laboratories International
[For US Residents Only]
Overview
The GLI Illuminating Your Career Path Internship Program (GLI-IYCPIP) is a paid internship that seeks diverse undergraduate and graduate college students who are interested in a career in quality assurance. Interns help support our business needs, and they get the experience and tools they need to pursue a successful career.
GLI partners with top colleges and universities each year to find students who are ready to immerse themselves in our business, work on meaningful projects, obtain hands-on learning, and develop their professional skills. While every intern’s experience is unique, all students leave with tangible skills that can accelerate their careers, including a potential future at GLI.
Mission
Our mission is to build an inclusive workplace and identify future talent. This annual program creates professional relationships with a diverse group of students who can learn the fundamentals of our business. It also helps us find potential resources to employ after graduation. We can establish connections that may prove useful not only for those we hire, but for referrals as well.
Application
The GLI HR team partners with colleges and universities to seek students. We will accept applications throughout the year, up until May 1. A designated HR recruiter will keep in contact with all applicants once they apply to provide status updates.
Evaluation
Candidates will be interviewed by the Engineering management team and their top selections will be chosen for the internship program.
Selection
Human Resources will offer the internships in the month of April and schedule start dates.
Onboarding/Training
Interns will work full-time beginning at the end of May and ending in August. Throughout May and June, new interns will be oriented to GLI, including the organizational culture, expectations, policies, and work procedures. Interns will understand their specific goals and how their work contributes to the bigger picture.
Contributing
After training, interns should be competent in the role and contribute to GLI by increasing their workload and responsibility. Supervising employees will provide reliable and regular supervision/mentoring to ensure interns are keeping pace and accomplishing goals. Job duties will include a broad spectrum of responsibilities, so the student gains a better understanding of the organization in its entirety in addition to their day-to-day functions. The Engineering and HR team will provide the opportunity for interns to have a meeting with senior management.
Review
Throughout the internship, students will receive honest and constructive feedback. In August, managers will give interns an overview of their accomplishments while working at GLI. The HR team will gather the intern’s feedback to evaluate the program and the individual’s experience.
Part-time (PT) Work
While some companies offer internships during the summer months only, we can start the internship in the summer and allow the employee to work part-time throughout the year. A longer internship may provide a more rounded experience, exposing the student to important activities that occur throughout the year. Alternatively, we can start interns as a regular, part-time employee. Selection on who should be offered to work part-time throughout the year is done at the beginning of August. This can either be on a temporary or regular basis.
