The GLI Gaming Security Framework (GLI-GSF) continues to evolve with the needs of the gaming industry. With the release of GLI-GSF-1 v1.1 and three new complementary modules, the framework now offers a more robust, clear, and flexible foundation for both regulators and operators worldwide.

The GLI-GSF was created in response to an overwhelming industry request for a comprehensive framework covering gaming security. Leveraging three and a half decades of knowledge and gaming industry insight, as well as a thorough review of global best practices for information security, GLI worked diligently alongside Bulletproof Solutions to establish a framework for gaming security.

These initial modules apply to all forms of gaming, effectively replacing the technical security tests previously established in GLI-27 for land-based gaming operations and, in the near future, will replace the technical security controls previously established in Appendix B of GLI-19 and GLI-33 for interactive gaming and event wagering as other modules are released.

Built in collaboration with industry stakeholders, GLI-GSF represents a comprehensive, industry-driven security framework to address the dynamic challenges of today’s gaming environments—across land-based, online, and vendor systems.

Core Security Framework

The Core Security Framework is an enhanced foundation module that brings added clarity and supports the integration of all other GLI-GSF modules. This module sets forth the common controls necessary for auditing a gaming organization’s gaming information security management system (GISMS), to ensure robust security measures across all aspects of gaming operations.

GLI-GSF-2 (GLI-GSF-2) v1.1: Gaming Technical Security (GTS) Assessment

Benchmark for Conducting a Gaming Enterprise’s GPE

These GTS Tests apply to GPEs used for all forms of gaming, such as casino gaming, lottery, event wagering, and interactive gaming. This module establishes the minimum benchmark on which to perform security testing on a gaming organization’s gaming production environment (GPE), including, but not limited to, servers, internet websites, mobile applications, internal, external, and wireless networks.

Non-Gaming Vendor Integration

This new module tailored for vendors integrates non-gaming business applications and ancillary solutions into gaming enterprises. It focuses on vendors who integrate non-gaming business applications and other ancillary solutions into a gaming enterprise’s production environment which does not directly affect regulated gaming components or activities.

Land-Based Gaming Operations

This dedicated foundational module is for physical venues such as casinos, racetracks, gaming halls, and others. This module builds upon the GLI-GSF-1, focusing on land-based gaming operations, such as a casino, gaming hall, racetrack, or other physical gaming venue or location, which offers gaming devices, table games, bingo, lottery, event wagering, or any other form of land-based gaming.

Online Gaming Operations

Designed for online operators, this framework offers support for interactive gaming, including iGaming and online sports wagering, via websites or mobile platforms This module builds upon the GLI-GSF-1, focusing on online gaming operations, using a gaming website, mobile application, or other digital platform, to offer interactive gaming (iGaming), internet lottery (iLottery), online event wagering, live studio gaming, or any other form of online gaming.
