The Situation

Endorphina is an online casino games developer and one of the fastest-growing companies in the sector. Ten years ago, they set up their business with the aim of creating great online slot games, unique in their field and popular among players. Given the rapidly evolving online environment in the market, they set out an ambitious growth plan to launch multiple games in regulated jurisdictions across Europe. As a start-up, they needed to partner with a testing lab who had the experience, breadth, and resources to match their ambitious plans and support them in achieving their business goals.

The Challenge

Every online slot game under the Endorphina brand is set on the principle of giving people a really fun and enjoyable time. They are an innovative developer and pride themselves on creating unique online slot games. Their ethos is to have a game that is new for players, which inherently brings with it new software. There isn’t always regulation directly associated with these new game types, which means changes are necessary and become more complex. The range of requirements also varies across Europe, making the job of developers and certifiers more challenging.

Endorphina did not have much experience in the testing and certification of games. They needed a strong partner who had been in the industry for a long time, had practical experience, and could become a long-term partner. After analysing all the options, Endorphina engaged GLI as their testing lab of choice.

Endorphina wanted to ensure their games were tested to the highest standard without compromising or losing the essence of what makes them original and what makes them stand out as Endorphina games. The team felt strongly that each of their games has an interactive soul that represents the character of each game, its appearance, temperament, and mood. It was essential that GLI understood that and were able to work collaboratively with Endorphina to ensure the idea and feel behind each game wasn’t lost in the certification process.

We needed a really strong partner who had been in this industry for a long time, had practical experience, and could become our long-term partner. After analysing all the options, we concluded that it was necessary for us to start cooperation with the best testing laboratory in the world, and for us, this is undoubtedly GLI. Probably the most important year in terms of our brand expansion was 2022, when we were able to authorise 17 new markets in one year. From our perspective, this is a world record that is hard to beat. And this world record would not have been real without the professional assistance of GLI. Today, the current number of jurisdictions we operate in has reached 27, and this number will grow in the near future.

The Action

The plan from Endorphina was ambitious, with over 100 games to certify in 27 jurisdictions.

Each game was subjected to resistance testing, various mathematical calculations, detailed quality audits, and compliance checks. All the tests needed to be passed before each game could be certified by GLI for release in a new jurisdiction. That meant Endorphina and GLI working closely together on a daily basis to achieve what the client set out to do.

The team at Endorphina was keen to learn from GLI’s experience and look at their online slot games from a different perspective. On occasions where the games did not meet the standard the first time, GLI worked with Endorphina to explain what needed to change and supported them throughout the end-to-end process. They welcomed GLI’s open and client-oriented approach and were receptive to feedback and learning as they worked through the certification process. They saw it as an opportunity to improve and enhance their games further rather than as a blocker.

The Standards

GLI 19 – Standards for Interactive Gaming Systems is a technical standard GLI produced for the industry. The standard provides regulators, suppliers, and operators with additional clarity and best practices surrounding interactive gaming systems. It was the standard used to test and certify Endorphina’s online slot games. Multiple gaming regulators have already incorporated GLI-19 within their regulatory structure, and it is recognised in markets across Europe.

Results

In 2022, Endrophina were able to enter 17 new markets in one year and in total, have over 150 unique games and official authorisation in 27 regulated markets around the world due to their ongoing collaboration with GLI. They also celebrated their 10th anniversary and exceeded all previous expectations, as well as being considered one of the top online slot game providers in the business. They have further expansion plans for 2023, and GLI is already working hard with the Endorphina team to support their continued growth.
