FAQs
You’ve Got Questions. We’ve Got Answers.
What is the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
The “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark is a registered trademark of Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) and a logotype designed for GLI customers to advertise products that GLI has determined to meet all conformance criteria in an applicable GLI Standard or other published regulatory requirements. The Mark may only be used by organizations that have applied for use of the Mark, agree to comply with the Certification Mark License Agreement, and have been granted approval by the GLI Product Certification Decisions Committee (PCDC). Use of the Mark requires that the GLI certified product(s) associated with the Mark are presented where the Mark is displayed. This is usually accomplished by linking the Mark to a GLI maintained web page referred to as the Certificate of Integrity (COI), so that when the Mark is selected, the COI is displayed.
What is the Certificate of Integrity (COI)?
The Certificate of Integrity (COI) is a custom certificate that GLI maintains online for approved users of the Mark. The link to the certificate is provided upon approval. The approved Mark user is then required to embed this link in the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark wherever the Mark is displayed in digital format. The COI includes the company / brand name(s) and linked website URL(s) where Mark use was approved for use, the GLI certified products associated with the Mark, a certification date for each product, dates the Certified Mark has been approved, and, if desired, the product owner’s logo. A sample COI may be reviewed here: https://access.gaminglabs.com/Certificate/Index?i=292.
Can the Certificate of Integrity (COI) be displayed in other languages?
Yes, the COI can be displayed in five different languages – English, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese and Korean – by selecting the globe icon at the top right of the COI. This is demonstrated in the sample COI here: https://access.gaminglabs.com/Certificate/Index?i=292.
Does GLI offer any other logo for external commercial use?
The Client Services (Sales) team has designed a “Lab of Choice” logo for GLI customers. If interested, you may request the Lab of Choice logo from your Client Services Representative or Account Manager. Use of any other GLI owned images or logos may not be used by non-GLI parties or organizations.
What kind of testing qualifies my product for use of the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
A product submitted to GLI for testing will qualify for use of the Mark when it has been determined that the product meets all the conformance criteria in an applicable GLI Standard or other published jurisdictional requirements.
Is there a fee to use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
No, there is no fee associated with application for, or use of, the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark.
Can I use my company logo in conjunction with the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?

Can the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark be edited/altered when displayed on a company’s website or printed material?
No, the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark is a registered trademark and may not be modified. This includes but is not limited to text, color, and background. However, the Mark may be resized provided the proportions are maintained.
Versions of the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark are provided upon approval to use the Mark to accommodate the needs of a wide variety of clients. Approved Mark users have the option to display the version of the Mark most suitable for their needs.
Can the Certification Mark License Agreement be revised for an individual customer?
No, GLI does not amend the Certification Mark License Agreement for an individual user. GLI cannot make exceptions for individual users due to the requirements of our ISO accreditations which require that we treat all users in the same manner. It is also important to note that the license agreement is in line with these types of agreements for the use of Certification Marks in all industries.
Can the Certificate of Integrity (COI) be modified to show company or brand names other than the name the product was certified under?
If a legal relationship between entities can be demonstrated, then additional brand names may be used.
If I have been approved to use the Mark in one way (on a website), can I use the Mark in another way (on a brochure) without PCDC approval?
No, if your organization wants to use the Mark in a way other than originally approved, you must submit a new request to the PCDC prior to use. To do so, complete and submit a new ‘Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form’.
If I have been approved to use the Mark on my organization’s website, can I use the Mark on additional websites without PCDC approval?
You do not need to submit another ‘Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form’ however you are required to inform GLI prior to displaying the Mark on any new website. Once informed, GLI will review and determine if the new website is suitable for the use of the Mark.
How do I apply to use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
If your organization has received a certification for a product submitted to GLI and the product passes all conformance criteria in an applicable GLI Standard or other published jurisdictional requirements, you may apply by completing the Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form. This form is currently available in English, Spanish and Portuguese at https://gaminglabs.com/gli-certified-mark/.
What is the process for receiving approval to use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
Do I have to apply to use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark if my product was already certified by GLI?
Yes, the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark is a registered trademark of Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) and therefore GLI has exclusive rights to its use under U.S. and International laws governing the use of trademarks. GLI must maintain up-to-date records of all Mark users and how the Mark is being used to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements. To use the Mark in conjunction with a product, the product must be certified by GLI. Upon completion of the certification, the user may apply to use the Mark by completing the Certified Mark Online Request Form at https://gaminglabs.com/gli-certified-mark.
As the owner of a product that was tested and certified by GLI, can the companies that purchase my product use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
Yes, this would be considered a transfer of the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark. However, as stipulated in the Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form, applicants may not provide the Mark for use to any other companies/entities.
To transfer use of the Mark to a customer of a product owner (licensee, operator, etc.), the product owner must first complete the application for use of the Mark and select ‘Yes’ when asked “Do you intend to transfer use of the Mark?” Once approval is granted to the product owner, the company that wants to use the Mark for the same product (the transferee) must also apply via the Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form and complete the application process in the same manner. The Mark transfer will only be approved if the product owner indicates that they intend to transfer use of the Mark.
Please note that completing an application does not guarantee that the Mark will be approved for use. All applications are subject to review by the Product Certification Decisions Committee (PCDC) and must be granted approval by the committee prior to use. Transferees must agree to the Certification Mark License Agreement and follow all stipulations of the PCDC in the same manner as the product owner.
What is the Product Certification Decisions Committee (PCDC)?
The Product Certification Decisions Committee (PCDC) is made up of members of Senior Management representing various departments of GLI. This ensures that the PCDC is impartial during the review of each application. Furthermore, no single interest predominates and all members of the PCDC are free from any commercial, financial, or other pressures that might influence decisions. The PCDC reviews all incoming applications for use of the Mark and makes the final determination regarding the outcome of each application.
Once I am approved to use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark, how long is my approval good for?
GLI approves the use of the Mark for one year. This will be indicated in your official approval email and will be maintained on your Certificate of Integrity (COI). On an annual basis, on the month that the approval expires, GLI will send a Certified Mark renewal email to the last known contact to inquire if your organization wishes to renew the use of the Mark.
If I purchase a certified product, can my company’s name be listed on the Certificate of Integrity (COI)?
Yes, however the manufacturer of the product must first be approved to use the Mark. Once approved, the manufacturer must notify GLI that your company is a Licensee of their product and that you are interested in using the Mark. This is considered a transfer of a manufacturer’s approval to use the Mark. You can then apply to use the Mark (as a Sublicensee) by completing the Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form at https://gaminglabs.com/gli-certified-mark/. In the Questions/Comments section of the form, you can specify that you are applying for a transfer of the Mark. Once approved, your company name and website will be displayed on the COI along with the manufacturer’s product information and logo, if applicable.
Does GLI confirm use of the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark?
Yes, GLI conducts routine monitoring of all organizations who have applied for the Mark, whether they were granted final approval or not. Monitoring activities may be conducted on the internet or during tradeshows to ensure proper use of the Mark online or on printed materials. Approved users of the Mark must provide GLI access to websites and mobile apps for monitoring activities. If any type of improper use is identified, the Mark user is contacted and will have an opportunity to correct the issue identified.
GLI also performs periodic monitoring to identify companies using the Mark who did not apply for use. In these cases, the individual/company is contacted and given the opportunity to properly apply for the Mark. If they choose not to do so, any and all GLI marks or logos being displayed must be removed until an application is submitted and subsequently approved for use by the Product Certification Decisions Committee (PCDC).
Does the “valid until” date on the Certificate of Integrity (COI) pertain to the products certified by GLI?
No, the certification reports issued for products tested by GLI will remain valid as long as the products are being used in the field as tested. The “valid until” date on the COI indicates when the use of the Certified Mark expires for an organization. Use of the Mark must be renewed annually and GLI will send out a renewal notification email prior to the expiration date. At that time, the approved user will be required to (1) indicate if the certified products are still in use as tested and (2) review and confirm that they will comply with the “Certification Mark License Agreement” or withdraw their use of the Mark.
Can the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark be used in conjunction with any GLI report?
No, the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark can only be used in conjunction with a product that has been tested and certified against a GLI Standard or other jurisdictional requirements. Monthly game payout calculation letters and non-jurisdictional evaluation reports are examples of letters which do not qualify as a certified product. It is recommended that you discuss the scope of your submission with your Client Services Representative in advance if you are interested in applying for use of the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark. Please note that receiving a GLI Certification report for a project does not guarantee approval for use of the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark. Approval for use of the Mark is determined by the Product Certification Decisions Committee on a case-by-case basis.
Can the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark be used on digital and printed media?
Yes, one of the questions on the Gaming Labs Certified Mark Online Request Form asks, “Where do you intend to use the Gaming Labs Certified Mark?” Here, you can choose from a list of options that include digital and printed media while other intended uses can be entered under Other. Additional details can be entered under Questions/Comments.
Can the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark be used on a Mobile App?
A request to use the Mark on a mobile app is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The applicant is requested to provide further information about their mobile app, such as the app name, screenshot samples, and to explain how and where the Mark is intended for use in the mobile app (e.g., on a Certifications screen). Additionally, the applicant must confirm that they will be able to embed a link to a Certificate of Integrity (COI) in the Mark wherever it appears in the mobile app. By linking the Mark to the COI, the app user can see what product was tested and certified by GLI. Once the requested information is provided, the PCDC reviews and approves or rejects the request. If the PCDC approves the mobile app for Mark use, the link to the COI will be provided.
Can I use the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark on printed marketing materials or on a tradeshow booth?
These types of requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the Mark is presented in the appropriate context with the products GLI has certified for your organization. GLI will request samples of the printed marketing materials (flyers, brochures, etc.) and/or tradeshow booth designs that show how and where the Mark will be used.
Your organization may be required to display the certified product name below the Certified Mark. Specifically for a tradeshow booth, if several products are associated with the mark, it may be required to display a printed Certificate of Integrity (COI) along with the mark.
Can you specify ways in which the Certified mark is not allowed to be used?
The Certification Mark License Agreement (which must be acknowledged on the application form by all Mark applicants) states that the “Gaming Labs Certified” Mark may not be displayed on a product or product packaging, business cards, letterheads, buildings, organizational flags, vehicles, on a decal or sticker, or any other similar items as deemed unacceptable by the Product Certification Decision Committee.
Can my company display the “Certification Report” provided by GLI in a public manner, for example, on websites, mobile apps, or marketing materials?
No, the information provided by GLI in the Certification Report is confidential and cannot be displayed publicly as described in GLI’s Terms and Conditions for Services at https://gaminglabs.com/gli-tc.
